Super cool skate vid I saw on ArtSponge today. I'm no skater by any means, and don't know the first thing about what goes into filming a skate vid, but the chalk smoke effect that they use here looks amazing. It also helps how it's played not quite at full speed...That reduced frame rate def helps the effect.

Paul Nicklen, a contributing photographer for National Geographic, talks about his incredible 4 day sea adventure photographing a giant leopard seal. It is the top predator in the Antarctic, with large K9 teeth, and a head double the size that of a polar bear. You'd assume it's instincts would be that of many other top predators, which is to consume prey that they're able to kill. However, Paul Nicklen's experience was rather playful and peaceful.
Check out the latest video from Raphael Saadiq for Staying In Love. This track can be found on his latest album The Way I See It. Reminds me of the classic soulful funk. Fitting with the retro style vid...

Definitely an interesting clip that's worth watching. This video shows an experiment in racial profiling, where a high end retail store clerk, and security guard (both actors) racially profile a black woman shopping in the store, who's also an actor. The results show that 80 out of the 100 shoppers that are in the store while this is happening do nothing. They just walk around, pretending to shop, but are clearing in tune with the arguing. And it's not like the sales clerk is being inconspicuous about it, she's blatantly putting it out there, and for everyone to hear.
It makes me wonder if I was there, what would I do? For me, there's no doubt I would speak my mind and support the shopper. I'd also make it well known that I would never be shopping there again. So, then I wonder why the 80% who didn't do anything chose their stance?? Inside, do they really feel like they're better than a person of darker skin?? Or is it that they're just scared to speak, and truly empathize with the shopper? Who knows I guess.

I'm obsessed with this song right now. This video dropped a few days ago and it fits the song perfectly. The amazing photos of the city, use of black and white, and city flyovers... true anthem in my eyes. And then there's A. Keys - her voice still gives me shivers. So powerful.
